Mike Germain heads up the Red Penguin Athletics Hockey Division as National Hockey Director.

Germain has Division I hockey coaching experience as an assistant with the R.I.T. Tigers. He also spent a season as an assistant coach/video scout with the American Hockey League’s Rochester Americans when they were affiliated with the Buffalo Sabers. Before that, Germain was an associate head coach for the Rochester Junior Americans for four seasons.
*While with the Rochester Junior Americans over 90 players moved on to play College, Prep School, Junior “A”, Major Junior and professionally under Germain’s guidance.
For three seasons, Germain was the head coach of the Greece Lightning, one of the top high school teams in the Rochester area. In his first season, Germain led the Lightning to 17 wins and the New York state quarterfinals.
He is a 1994 graduate of SUNY Cortland and standout goaltender for the Red Dragons. While at SUNY Cortland, Germain set single-season school records that still stand for most wins (17, 1992-93) and shutouts (2, 1991-92). He is also the Red Dragons all-time leader in wins and shutouts.
Germain, who has a master’s degree in educational administration from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and a second masters in liberal studies at SUNY Brockport, started his coaching career as an assistant at Brockport from 1998-2000.
